Inspirational meeting ‘Equal opportunities’ with speakers Peter Heerschop and Jeannette Welp

Children are the builders, leaders, scientists, artists and visionaries of tomorrow. It is our shared responsibility to ensure that they all have equal opportunities to develop their skills and pursue their dreams. By investing in equal opportunities in education and society, we are building a just and flourishing society together. Waalwijk Taalrijk, an initiative of the municipality of Waalwijk, asks Novella – theworldcafe.nl to think along to realize a meaningful meeting.
EXECUTION
During the inspiration meeting for Waalwijk Taalrijk, Alphons is the host but also hosts the evening as a presenter. At the start, he interviews alderman Dilek Odabasi about the goal of the meeting. Then Peter Heerschop, comedian and gym teacher, gives a fiery argument using short anecdotes that every child should be seen. The interactive contribution by Jeannette Welp is about the effect of music on the child brain and inclusion. After a short break at the information market, the dialogue follows in the World Café.
THEMES
In the Language Café, fifteen round tables are worked on around the main theme Equal opportunities. There are three types of tables around each of the three subthemes ‘Parental involvement and parental participation’, ‘Equal opportunities’ and ‘Language development and reading promotion’. At each table there is a host from the municipality of Waalwijk or one of its partners, who we have trained in advance. Help questions per table help the participants to arrive at concrete output. After three dynamic rounds, Jeannette Welp and Jaap Voerman collect the output.
