AI & The Public Broadcaster of Tomorrow

REQUEST

The NPO aims to develop policies on AI and how to approach it as a public broadcaster. What does AI mean for actions now and in the future? The World Café is asked to organize an AI Thinkathon to gather relevant input. The session should contribute to a broader and deeper understanding of potential developments and challenges of AI, as well as the role the public broadcaster can and should play in this context.

EXECUTION

Approximately 30 participants from various broadcasters, joined by experts and a few members of the public, will be inspired by moderator Wiro Kuipers to envision the year 2034. Using the Future Design methodology, they will discuss what the information landscape looks like, the role AI plays, and the role of media. In the next round, they will examine the role the NPO holds within that landscape.

THEMES

After a short break, the participants return to 2024 and can read the possible future on all tablecloths. Based on this, all participants engage in dialogue over three rounds, in varying groups, through the World Café on how the NPO can act toward this possible future in the coming years. In this way, everyone covers each of the following sub-themes: Audience & Society, Ethics & Trust, and Creativity & Innovation.
