Future-Focused Strategies
with the Creative Power of Future Design
During a Future Design session, participants view current decisions and challenges from the perspective of future generations. The goal is to make choices that are sustainable and reflect the interests of those future generations. This is achieved by explicitly asking participants to ‘take on the role’ of future generations, allowing them to look at the present from a future-oriented perspective.
APPROACH TO FUTURE DESIGN SESSION
A Future Design session always begins with an in-depth conversation with our client to clarify the challenges and goals. Based on this, we create a tailored proposal. A session lasts at least half a day, but ideally, we spend a full day—or even engage in a development trajectory—traveling through time with the participants.
During the session, the facilitator guides you on a journey to the future—10, 20, 30, or even 40 years ahead. In this future, we experience the world as it might look then. From this perspective, we look back at the present: what do we see when we view our current time from the future? What advice, warnings, or compliments might we offer from that future world? This approach inspires participants to make different choices that impact both the present and the future. As Roman Krznaric states in his book The Good Ancestor: The children of your children will thank you.’
A content-driven and creative facilitator guides you on a memorable journey through time
Wiro Kuipers is an inspiring facilitator with extensive experience guiding group processes in government, education, and commercial organizations. With his creative approach, he helps participants explore complex issues and achieve valuable insights. In some Future Design sessions, Wiro enhances the experience by incorporating LEGO® Serious Play® to foster deeper understanding and innovation.
